Welcome to Christ Episcopal Church

Who is this God who seeks us in so many ways, calls us from our familiar and comfortable places and moves us into new roles? Part of the answer can be found within the church. We come to know God better by serving as church members and participating in church ministries. God is present with us and in others as we worship and serve.

We appreciate the members of Christ Episcopal Church and embrace the interests and talents each brings to our community. As you participate in worship and ministries, you will have the opportunity to form new friendships and strengthen those you already have. We encourage you to become involved: we need you to thrive as a community of faith.

This booklet briefly describes the ministry teams, study groups, and fellowship events that are currently available at Christ Church along with contact information. If you have an interest in something that is not currently available, please speak with our rector, Anna Doherty, or any of the vestry members. We value your ideas and hope that we can work together to develop programs that enrich your spiritual life and that of our faith community.

Safe Church

Christ Church believes it is our responsibility as a community of faith to ensure that our church is a safe place for all of God’s children and requires everyone who works with children, youth, or vulnerable adults, serves in a pastoral role, or has a key to the building to participate in “Safe Church” training. This program is designed to raise awareness of and, thereby, prevent sexual abuse and harassment. Safe church is offered at Christ Church as well as other Episcopal Churches in Minnesota.

What is an Episcopalian?

Have you ever been asked the question, “What is an Episcopalian?”.  How do you answer that?  Here is an article from the Episcopal Church website as well as the link to the article.

http://www.episcopalchurch.org/page/i-am-episcopalian

As Episcopalians, we are followers of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and we believe in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The Episcopal Church has members in the United States and the territory of Puerto Rico; and also in Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Venezuela, Curacao, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Haiti, Honduras, Micronesia, Taiwan, and the Virgin Islands.
We strive to love our neighbors as ourselves and respect the dignity of every person.
The Episcopal Church is part of the worldwide Anglican Communion, and traces its heritage to the beginnings of Christianity.
Our liturgy retains ancient structure and traditions and is celebrated in many languages.
Both men and women, including those who are married, are eligible for ordination as deacons, priests and bishops.
We believe in amendment of life, the forgiveness of sin, and life everlasting.
Lay people exercise a vital role in the governance and ministry of our church.
Holy Communion may be received by all baptized Christians, not only members of the Episcopal Church.
We uphold the Bible and worship with the Book of Common Prayer.
We affirm that committed relationships are lifelong and monogamous. Episcopalians also recognize that there is grace after divorce and do not deny the sacraments to those who have been divorced.
We affirm that issues such as birth control are matters of personal informed conscience.
We celebrate our unity in Christ while honoring our differences, always putting the work of love before uniformity of opinion.
All are welcome to find a spiritual home in the Episcopal Church.
